Social Events

The Club has a very active social calendar for those who wish to enjoy their Sprite at a more leisurely pace.

All Club Members are encouraged to drive out to any competition event advertised on this site or in the club magazine. We may not form a convoy from a common group starting point, but even if we do, you are all welcome to join us at the event.

Checkout the social calendar below to see the coming events. Contact Jack de Bruijne on 0403 323 584 if you have any queries or suggestions of events or venues for 2017. Your input will help to make a better and more interesting social year.

There are other photos of past events in the Photo Gallery or to AHSDC Wordpress

Past social events for this year can be found at Archived Events 2017

If anyone has other images they would like to submit for inclusion, please send them in a file in reduced format to kazp@iinet.net.au.

23/24th September 2017: Wings and Wheels at Maryborough

Come up to Maryborough and admire classic car and aviation displays, or take part in car sprints and tours. Full details are on their website – www.wingsandwheels.net.au . Maryborough is about 1.5 hours from Melbourne. You can drive up for either day or book a motel and make a weekend of it. There is no organised drive up. There are motorkhana / sprint events on both Saturday and Sunday at the Airport. A car display and swap meet are also held in the town. So you have a choice to compete in the sprints, display your vehicle or just watch all the action.

Saturday 30 September and Sunday 1 October, 2017: Euroa Show and Shine

Over the years we have had some great drives and food and friendship on this weekend which we have not done for a couple of years. Mike Dore started this weekend when he had a property at Ruffy. Since then we have enjoyed Ruffy General Store, Maygars Hill Winery, Tahbilk Winery and Nagambie. The Show and Shine also offers some interesting cars.

The format is that we will drive up towards Euroa on the Saturday and stay in Nagambie (Centretown Motel) and have a leisurely lunch along the way and dinner at night. Sunday, we will drive to the Show and Shine and browse there for the day. You can either drive home Sunday afternoon or stay over (The Jolly Swagman Motel, Euroa) and have a leisurely drive home on Monday. If you have not already contacted Jack de Bruijne, please organise your own accommodation and send him an email at jdebrona@gmail.com. Accommodation is already hard to get in Euroa!

Thursday, 5th October 2017: Mid Week Social Drive

Come along to our seventh mid week social drive. We have a different route and a different lunch venue.
Start will be at 10 am (we leave at 10.00) at Beasleys Nursery, 195 Heidelberg-Warrandyte Road, East Doncaster – Melways Map 34 F2

Since everyone liked going the other way on Chum and Myers Creek Roads on the Economy Run, we will take the same route and you don’t need to worry about economy. Morning tea will be at the Kinglake Bakery and lunch again at the Kinglake Hotel.
After lunch you can head home to avoid the traffic.

Sunday, 15th October 2017: Motoclassica at the Exhibition Buildings

Our club has been invited to display 12 cars at the Exhibition Buildings in the Club Sandwich display at Motorclassica. There are always exceptional exhibits on display here and it is Ferrari’s 70th birthday so you will see some of the best. As it is always so busy, it is a good idea to pre-purchase tickets so you don’t have to queue up

Check with Greg Corbin at greg@gregcorbinarchitects.com.au to see if there are any tickets left.

Sunday, 29th October 2017: Tri Club Presidents' Run

Keep this day free for a drive with AHOC and Jaguar Car Club followed by lunch, More details shortly.

Sunday, 5th November 2017: Visit to Neil Johnson's garden, lunch and Rhododendron Gardens

Take this opportunity to visit stunning gardens in the Dandenongs. Firstly, we will visit Neil Johnson’s garden at Kalorama followed by lunch at Destiny Point Cafe at Five Ways then finishing off with a visit to the Rhododendron Gardens at Olinda.

We will meet at 9.30 am and park in Ridge Road, Kalorama behind Destiny Point Cafe ( this is at Five Ways over the road from the Silvan lookout ) Then we will walk to Neil’s, returning back for lunch at Destiny Point Cafe, and then drive to the Rhododendron Gardens at Olinda.

Please email jdebrona@gmail.com to let me know you are coming as we will need to provide numbers for lunch – the Cafe gets very busy.

Thursday, 9 November 2017: Mid Week Social Drive

Our last one for the year, so don’t miss it! Jeff’s Cruze Nights start next week.

Start will be at 10 am (we leave at 10.00) at Beasleys Nursery, 195 Heidelberg-Warrandyte Road, East Doncaster: Melways Map 34 F2.

Hopefully we will see these mid week drives continue in 2018.
